I’ve spent who knows how long in this horizon view
Just waiting for something to take me somewhere new
Just hoping that someone will hold me
Hold me
So tenderly
Make me forget
We
Hold hands for a moment as we
Roll up on the waterfront
Though
We know not what we do we’ll surely
Take form as the tide collides us
On
Its own majestic...
I’ve been saved by knowing
We’re just coming and going
If I need to know anything else
I will watch and learn
Taking no more than what I give
Hold hands for a moment as we
Roll up on the waterfront
Though
We know not what we do we’ll surely
Take form as the tide collides us
On
Its own majestic...
Tunnelling is a two track EP by producer Fea, her first solo release on Unit 137 following a remix of Hylu’s single ‘Zaf’ in 2021.
The lead single, Seagulls, features South London based musician, MettaShiba, whose soulful vocals ground the song. Dub kicks, guitar riffs and minimal percussion allow Mettashiba’s vocals to float effortlessly through; a dreamy listen. Touches of dub, rock, folk, jazz and RnB can be heard as the two artists’ styles meet.
The second track, Tunnelling, is a dub influenced, guitar instrumental. Fea’s specific musical set up can be heard throughout; from the analogue synth bass line, guitar melodies, to field recorded samples. Meditative percussion drives the tracks, with reverb soaked guitar drifting in and out in of soothing bass-lines.
Fea is a producer and musician based in London. Her productions are heavily influenced by years of playing in bands; her roots in guitar music can be heard alongside drones, bass and dub, creating a hybrid electronic sound. She has previously released on Unit 137, Castles in Space, alongside various self releases.
MettaShiba (Momoko Watanabe Gill) is a London-based composer, producer, songwriter and instrumentalist, who primarily plays drums, sings, and occasionally plays keyboards. She has a duo project An Alien Called Harmony with rapper/poet Nadeem Din-Gabisi and frequently performs with artists such as Tirzah, Alabaster DePlume and Coby Sey, among others. She gravitates towards alternative approaches to jazz, soul, hip-hop, as well as improvisation and bold originality in any style. She has recorded an EP as An Alien Called Harmony, due to be released this year, and is also recording a solo EP.
